Buying Domain Names

Domain names go fast, even with the new domain extensions which were brought into compensate for the ever increasing demand. So, its wise to think of a name and buy that domain as soon as possible to avoid disappointment! However, some TLD (Top Level Domains) are not advisable to purchase so it’s always advisable to get advise on the best option for your needs.

If you don’t have a clue how to do this, then I can search if this name still exists. If it does, I can also purchase it on your behalf, buying and registering from our reputable supplier. Credit card/bank details will need to be given, for ordering and securing your chosen domain.

Please Note:- that if a name is requested it will be checked if available, however in certain circumstances, although it may appear to be available it can be in the process of being registered or Nominet the official body for UK domain names has on rare occasions not always had up to date records especially for other country extensions such as .com, which was originally for US businesses. If this is the case, you will not be charged.

Transferring Domain Names

If you have had the foresight to purchase your Domain name already, and is being parked ready and waiting for transferring to a permanent web hosting space, then I can arrange this transfer for you.

Transfer can take anywhere in the region of 24 hours to 7 days to complete, and can only be done when the purchase of web hosting space has been made, in order to transfer to.

Hosting and Web Space

If you own a site whether created by Quirky by Design, or by someone else you will need hosting space in order to display your website.

This will also provide you with a personal email address so you can retrieve emails directly.  If you wish to buy more than one domain, and this does happen, especially if you wish to stop others from making sites with similar sounding to yours, with similar content, you can have any additional domain parked, redirected and left to develop another web site later on if you so wish. In this case you would need more than enough web space which can support more than one domain.

You would also need to consider the amounts of data transfer allowances per month, for such facilities as chat rooms, forums, and if you have photos or graphics. Every time your site is visited, data is transferred, and if your site is popular, you could find yourself paying extra!
